Veritas APS was launched in September 2013 and created by Steve Nelson, who has 25 years experience of managing organisations security and risk management requirements. Prior to establishing Veritas APS Steve was Group Head of Security at Thomas Cook Group PLC. Here he established proven crime reduction techniques, creating security policies, procedures and strategies to manage various risks including CVIT crime, armed robbery, card fraud, burglary, ATM crime and theft.
Steve attained an MSc in Security and Risk Management from The University of Leicester in 2002,adding academic examination to his operational
experience, enabling him to undertake informed evaluation of criminal behaviour and prevention techniques.
Steve has always been an innovator, embracing new technology and pioneering new techniques in security applications. Steve was the first person to use a water based DNA product as a robbery deterrent, working with the supplier to design the triggering and activation methods. Steve was also an early adopter of IP signalling devices, replacing costly analogue polled systems with digital devices that operate over the company Wide Area Network (WAN), resulting in significant recurring revenue savings.
Steve has also been successful in integrating security systems across a number of corporate sites to improve efficiencies and enable cost reductions in security spend by achieving the correct mix of security personnel and remote monitoring technology. Having managed multi-million pound security budgets for 20 years.
Steve is a robust negotiator with service providers and to enhance that negotiation Steve has an excellent knowledge of the security market place, where he embraces new technology and creates system integration to obtain optimum value from investment.
